We’re delighted to announce a new partnership with Engineer a Career, bringing together our shared commitment to supporting students and early-career engineers build purposeful, impactful careers.

At Engineers Without Borders UK, we believe engineering should be a force for good. That means equipping engineers not only with technical expertise, but with the knowledge, skills and mindsets to respond to complex global challenges such as inequality and climate breakdown. Partnering with Engineer a Career enables us to connect that purpose-driven vision more directly with real professional journeys and industry insight.

Engineer a Career was created to bridge the gap between education and industry by giving students clearer insight into engineering pathways and helping organisations build sustainable talent pipelines. Through podcasts, events and an ambassador network, they make engineering careers more visible and accessible, creating opportunities for exposure and meaningful connection.

Josh Robertson, Founder of Engineer a Career, shared:

“Purpose is now a defining factor in engineering careers. At Engineer a Career, we help students see where they fit and how their skills translate into real impact. This partnership connects career pathways with social and environmental responsibility, equipping the next generation not just to enter engineering, but to shape it.”

John Kraus, Chief Executive Officer of Engineers Without Borders UK, added:

“Students don’t just want jobs, they want work that matters. By partnering with Engineer a Career, we’re creating opportunities for honest conversations about purpose and impact in engineering. When industry and education come together in this way, we create the conditions for a more responsible and future-ready profession.”

Through this partnership, we’ll work together to help students and early-career engineers navigate career options with greater clarity and confidence, while supporting organisations to engage earlier and more intentionally with the next generation of engineers.

Launching in Glasgow

Our first activity together will be an in-person event at the AECOM offices in Glasgow on Thursday 26 March.

The evening will bring together students, early-career engineers, educators and industry professionals to explore an important question:

What does it mean to build a career in engineering that feels impactful in a job market that’s changing fast?

Graduates today are entering a profession full of opportunity, but also complexity. While engineering skills remain in demand, many are asking deeper questions about values, impact and long-term direction. This event will strengthen connections between students and industry, bring our networks together, and provide space for meaningful conversations about the purpose of engineering.

Upcoming event hosted in collaboration with Engineer a Career.

This event marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long-term, evolving collaboration. By aligning Engineer a Career’s focus on access and connection with our work to embed global responsibility in engineering education and practice, we can help shape pathways that are not only successful, but socially and environmentally responsible.

We look forward to seeing how this relationship grows, and to welcoming many of you in Glasgow this March.
