Communications and Engagement Coordinator

  • Location: Remote, or hybrid if UK-based
  • Suitable for: Those based in the UK or working remotely outside of the UK (e.g. digital nomads).
  • Type of post: Full time (37.5 hours per week). 
  • Remuneration: £28,000-£30,000 (depending on experience and adjusted for location).
Role overview

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Communications and Engagement Coordinator to join our team and play a crucial role in executing our communications and engagement strategies. You will be responsible for creating compelling content, managing our online presence, and engaging with our diverse and passionate community.

Key responsibilities
  • Content creation: Develop engaging multimedia content for our communications channels that resonate with our diverse audience, from thought pieces on hot topics in globally responsible engineering to videos promoting our programmes.
  • Brand and design: Create eye-catching graphics and materials, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Social media management: Strategically plan, create, and schedule dynamic posts to spark engagement with our vibrant online community.
  • Email marketing: Design and send compelling newsletters and campaigns that keep our supporters engaged and informed.
  • Website management: Keep our website fresh and engaging with up-to-date content and visuals.
  • Analytics and reporting: Dive into digital campaign data, uncover insights, and provide actionable reports to drive our strategies.
  • Events coordination: Coordinate memorable events and outreach activities that connect and inspire our community.
What we’re looking for
  • A creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and community engagement.
  • Proven experience in a communications or marketing role.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • A keen eye for design.
  • Video-editing experience.
  • Ability to analyse data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and software.
  • A willingness to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Join our Trustee team

Are you passionate about empowering engineers to address global challenges? Do you possess deep knowledge and experience in the UK Higher Education sector? If so, we invite you to bring your expertise and join our mission to put global responsibility at the heart of engineering.

Role overview

As a member of our Board of Trustees, you will provide strategic guidance and support to Engineers Without Borders UK. We seek someone who thinks differently, with an entrepreneurial mindset, and who knows how to expedite change within universities. Experience in organisational change within higher education and an interdisciplinary background, potentially outside of engineering, will be advantageous.

Key responsibilities
  • Serve the usual duties of a charity trustee, demonstrating a deep commitment to sustainable development and global citizenship.
  • Attend quarterly Board meetings, subcommittee meetings, and various internal and external events.
  • Contribute to fundraising and network growth efforts.
  • Serve a three-year term, with the possibility of a second consecutive term.
What we’re looking for
  • Strong alignment with our values and a clear understanding of a Trustee’s responsibilities.
  • Proven experience in systemic change, preferably in a leadership role within UK higher education.
  • Extensive experience in delivering university courses, with a focus on embedding sustainability.
  • Ability to influence academic networks for curriculum change.
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Experience with successful grant applications and willingness to assist in fundraising efforts.
