Purpose in Practice: Shaping meaningful careers in engineering
We’re excited to welcome you to a joint event between Engineers Without Borders UK and Engineer a Career!
What does it mean to build a career in engineering that feels impactful in a job market that’s changing fast?
Graduates today are entering a profession full of opportunity, but also uncertainty. While engineering skills are in demand, many early-career engineers are asking deeper questions: What kind of work is worth doing? How do my values fit into my career choices? And how do I navigate a sector grappling with climate breakdown, inequality and rapid technological change?
Join Engineers Without Borders UK and Engineer a Career for an evening of conversation and connection. Together, we’ll explore what purposeful engineering careers look like in practice and how engineers can shape pathways that align technical expertise with social and environmental impact.
The evening will feature:
- A welcome from Engineers Without Borders UK and Engineer a Career
- A panel discussion with industry leaders, sharing honest reflections on navigating early careers, finding alignment, and adapting in a shifting landscape
- Space for questions, conversation, and informal connection over food and drinks
This event is for students, early-career engineers, educators, and anyone curious about how engineering can be a force for good, whether you’re confident about your next steps or still figuring things out.
