Imagine Tomorrow: Zine-Making Workshop with CIVIC SQUARE

July 16 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Ahead of our Summer Gathering, join the CIVIC SQUARE team and Artist/Educator Rumbidzai Savanhu for a collaborative zine-making workshop exploring what it means to create places, systems and infrastructure that help people and planet thrive.

Through collage, drawing, writing and conversation, we’ll reflect on the role engineers and communities can play in shaping a fairer and more regenerative future. Drawing inspiration from real-world examples of community-led change and radical approaches to design, participants will create pages that capture ideas, stories and possibilities for engineering in service of society.

Whether you’re an engineer, student, community organiser or simply curious, no creative experience is needed – just bring your ideas and imagination.

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Date: Thursday 16 July
Time: 16:00–17:30 (ahead of our Summer Gathering, 17:30-20:00)
Location: Phoenix Garden, London

What is a zine?
A zine (pronounced zeen) is a small, self-published booklet used to share ideas, stories and creative expression. Made using simple materials like collage, drawings, writing and photography, zines have long been a tool for communities to imagine new possibilities, amplify diverse voices and spark conversation.

About CIVIC SQUARE
CIVIC SQUARE is a social infrastructure organisation based in Ladywood, Birmingham, working with residents and partners to reimagine how neighbourhoods are designed, built and cared for. Through their project, Neighbourhood Public Square, they are exploring new approaches to land stewardship, governance, ecological building and community-led regeneration – helping create places that are more just, regenerative and resilient for generations to come.
