Case Study: Giscard Kuimi
Giscard is a board member at Govan Community Project and studies community development at the University of Glasgow. He also works with Govan Help working with local government, local charities and the police.
Case Study: Humza Yousaf
Humza represents the Glasgow Pollock constituency as a member of the Scottish Parliament, which includes Govan, and is the cabinet secretary for health and social care in the Scottish Government.
Case Study: Jim Ellis
Jim Ellis is the neighbourhood coordinator in the Community Regeneration and Sustainability department for the Govan Ward in Glasgow City Council. The local authority deals with cleanliness, lighting, roads and all aspects people expect when they leave the house.
Case Study: Liz Gardiner
Liz has been running an organisation called FableVision since 1984, which works with communities of interest to transform narratives through cultural development. She is also a PhD candidate at the University of West of Scotland between business, creative industries and engineering departments.
Case Study: Mohammed Alazraq
Mohammed works with groups of refugees and people seeking asylum with lived experience to understand what people think of Govan Community Project’s services and activities and any barriers to accessing them. He also works with other organisations and community groups on integration and diversity in the community.
Case Study: Nina Naserdost
Nina lives in Govan and is someone seeking asylum. She is a member of the Govan Community Project Women’s Group which is a fantastic opportunity for her to engage and feel supported by the community.
Case Study: Dr. Rhys Williams
Rhys is a lecturer at the University of Glasgow in Energy and Environmental Humanities. Rhys works on community engagement in the GALLANT project through the community engagement workstream.
Case Study: Sedia Dibassy
Sedia came from Gambia to the UK in 2012 as someone seeking asylum. He initially stayed in Govan for six months before moving to Maryhill.
