We are the 100th member of the International Ethics Standard Coalition
Engineers Without Borders UK has become the 100th organisation to join the International Ethics Standards coalition.
Engineers Without Borders UK has joined a new international coalition that will develop the first set of globally-recognised ethics standards for real-estate and related professional organisations.
The International Ethics Standards (IES) Coalition now consists of 100 member organisations with professionals working in a diverse range of countries around the globe.
Coalition Members, many of which already have their own codes of conduct focusing on qualities like trustworthiness, integrity and respect, will work together to align ethics principles through a new international standard.
The IES Coalition was first proposed during a meeting of a number of the founding organisations at the United Nations (New York) in October 2014. We believe that the work of the coalition aligns well with our own efforts to gather support around a Declaration of Global Responsibility for engineers. Our Chief Executive, Doug Harper, made the following comment about joining the coalition:
Engineers Without Borders UK is absolutely committed to working with out fellow global professionals on this important project. Establishing consistent ethical standards will enhance transparency and trust. We’re also delighted to be working with new partners, both in the UK and overseas.
The final International Ethics Standard will be published during 2016. More information and the draft standard can be seen at www.ies-coalition.org/
