Engineers Without Borders UK leads a movement inspiring, enabling and influencing the future of engineering to ensure a better world for everyone. Our work embeds social and environmental responsibility into engineering mindsets and knowhow and supports the development of better technologies, systems and infrastructure to achieve more equal access to transformative, globally responsible engineering around the world.
We have recently realigned our operations to deliver our strategy ‘Engineering Change’. Our team is now centred around the three core functions of ‘Engineering’, ‘Engagement’ and ‘Operations’ with a key focus on ensuring that Engineering and Engagement work closely together to jointly progress our mission – leading a movement focused on globally responsible engineering.
We are now looking for a proactive and strategically minded engineering professional to join our team and head up our strategic focus on globally responsible engineering. This role is ideal for someone with a strong passion and expertise in engineering, engineering ethics, sustainability/development/resilience, and with insight into the engineering sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strategic leadership, leading teams, developing new business / projects and programmes, and, someone who is looking to support an organisation to achieve its strategy through this.
As our Head of Engineering, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and grow a portfolio of work focused on developing and promoting globally responsible engineering. This will involve:
- Delivering our thought leadership through researching and developing the concept of globally responsible engineering
- Supporting innovation partners to develop new technologies/infrastructure/engineering approaches around the world
- Developing and overseeing projects and programmes embedding global responsibility into engineering education and engineering practice
