Birmingham City University Crowned Winners of EWB Challenge 2015
The winners of the EWB Challenge 2015 are Birmingham City University. Congratulations! The team designed an innovative water harvesting system to improve collection of water during the dry season. This year’s partner, Nepal Water for Health, had asked students to find engineering solutions to real-life problems around infrastructure, energy, water and sanitation faced by the community of Sandikhola in the Gorka District of Nepal. Around 3,800 students from 23 universities across the United Kingdom and Ireland participated in the EWB Challenge this year.
The EWB Challenge aims to inspire and support future engineers to respond to global challenges. The relevance of such a programme was this year recognised by continued sponsorship from Anglo American Group Foundation, along with endorsement from the Engineering Council and Engineering Professors’ Council.
