The Student Champion role was created to amplify student voices as part of Engineers Without Borders UK’s 2021-2030 strategy. As a Student Champion, you’ll have the opportunity to represent student voices by providing valuable feedback on various activities, support events, facilitate workshops, and assist student Chapters across the UK.
We’re looking to recruit up to 8 Student Champions who are eager to contribute and make a difference.
About the role
As a Student Champion, you’ll play a key role in strengthening and supporting your fellow Chapters. You’ll help coordinate activity, gather insights, and represent the student voice nationally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and guiding assigned Student Chapters through fortnightly check-ins.
- Attending monthly virtual meetings with the Engineers Without Borders UK team and other Champions.
- Helping Chapters submit event and activity forms.
- Assisting with national campaigns and events.
- Sharing feedback to enhance the student experience
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need to have previous leadership experience – just the passion and commitment to help shape a better future through engineering.

Chapter Design Challenge 2026
There is the additional opportunity this year for two champions to take on further responsibility as Lead Coordinators for the Chapter Design Challenge 2026.
You will work closely with the Engineers Without Border UK team in this role, supporting with tasks such as:
- Designing elements of the Challenge, including the timeline, judging format, and participant experience.
- Planning logistics for the Grand Finals events, such as venue hire, travel arrangements, and photo/video production.
- Organising briefings for judges, finalist teams, and the photo/video crew to ensure everyone is prepared.
- Recruitment efforts to increase visibility and participation from both student teams and judges.
