Sakthy completed her final year at the University of Cambridge in Civil Engineering in 2010. For her final year research project she looked at structures in micro-hydro schemes in the rural areas of the Cajamarca region of Peru.

For her final year (2009/2010) research project at Imperial College London, Sarah Clayton took on the EWB-UK proposed research project entitled ‘Slow Sand Filtration’ and focused on its use at household level.

Development of a Novel Plan for Emptying Pit Latrines in Urban Slums

Affiliated research project

Nate’s research project for his MPhil (2010) in Engineering for Sustainable Development at the University of Cambridge focused on a critical assessment of the realities of the sanitation situation in high density urban slums in developing countries and then looked at a novel solution to emptying pit latrines.
