The Placements Co-ordinator leads the EWB-UK placements team of student and professional volunteers, in the most high profile of the charity's activities. This currently involves 40 students and young graduates taking part in voluntary placements of 3-12 months in the UK and abroad.

Role Summary:

  • You will have responsibility for managing the placements team, a paid part-time administrator and a wider team of volunteers
  • You will have responsibility for directing the programme, prioritising areas for improving practices and expanding operations
  • You will become a member of the EWB-UK National Executive, reporting through this to the EWB-UK Board of Trustees

Requirements:

  • You should have experience of leading and motivating a team
  • You should have good organisation skills
  • You should be interested in international development and EWB-UK
  • Experience of overseas placements is highly beneficial
  • The role is anticipated to require a commitment of up to 10 hours per week over a period of 1 year

This role provides fantastic experience of international development issues, and exposure to a range of development organisations from grass-roots community groups to international aid agencies. You will develop a variety of transferable skills including planning, management of a team, leadership, training, budgetting, and liasing with partners such as NGOs, donors and corporations. There is a huge personal satisfaction in contributing to an essential part of EWB-UK's activities, and the work of our partner organisations.

You will receive internal training from the previous holders of the position and ongoing guidance and support from the EWB-UK Chief Executive and a Trustee of EWB-UK.

The role is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the international development and charitable sectors. You will build both a strong network of contacts, and develop a strong understanding of working in the development sector.
