National Placements Team Member

National team members play a management role in the placements programme, each member responsible for overseeing up to 8-10 projects. They play a vital role in deploying resources (budget >£40k/annum) to maximise the positive impacts of our programme area. You will be supported by a paid administrator, on secondment from the International Disaster Relief organisation, RedR.

Role Summary

  • To manage a small team of project managers and other volunteers, overseeing up to 8-10 projects.
  • To contribute to the programmes' aims by ensuring that placements processes are carried out in a smooth and timely manner, to a high level of quality.
  • To contribute to programme wide activities such as facilitating training sessions for other volunteers or leaning from feedback from previous year's volunteers

Requirements

  • You should have some experience of either (or both) Fieldwork in the development sector, for at least 3 months or Volunteer management or leading a small team in an organisation
  • You should have an active interest in international development, and some understanding of Engineers Without Borders UK's aims and how it operates.
  • You must be comfortable with working in spatial isolation from the placements team for periods of time, communicating by email and telephone.
  • The role is anticipated to require a commitment of around 4 hours per week

You will receive internal training from the previous holders of the position and ongoing guidance and support from the Placements Coordinator, and you will receive training on volunteer management skills.
