A 3 month placement working with an organisation who’s aim is to enable developing communities to construct, operate and maintain sustainable water sources and sanitation assets.

What work will I be doing?

The volunteer will be conducting a survey of existing rope pump installations. The survey will include the different models and design of rope pump used by the community. Once the survey is complete the volunteers will identify areas of improvement where applicable.

What skills or experience do I need?

Required:

• Practically minded person
• Civil/Environmental engineer or similar field
• Proven ability to work with minimal supervision
• Proven ability to manage a small team
• Proven ability to problem solve
• Experienced traveller

Desired:

• Fluency in English
• Experience of Water Engineering Practice
• Previous experience on water/sanitation/community projects
• East African travel experience
• Knowledge of Swahili language
• Car/Motorcycle driving licence
