Prior Experience Needed

6 month placement to undertake a feasibility study for a sound carbon trading / biomass programme with reference to improved cook stove and gasifier technology in Nepal.

 

What work will I be doing?

Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, the volunteer will identify and evaluate existing carbon trading and biomass programmes associated with improved cook stove and gasifier technology. The volunteer will identify and research an existing indoor stoves project that can be adopted by CRT/N, and complete feasibility studies for those rural communities identified as requiring the improved technology.

Who will I be working for?

The Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal is a professional non-governmental organisation involved in developing and promoting appropriate rural technologies in order to improve the livelihoods of rural people. The organisation was officially established in 1989 and employs about 50 staff. Its main beneficiaries are rural households, and the Nepalese government and foreign donors are its main sources of funding. For more information http://www.crtnepal.org/

What skills or experience do I need?

Required:

  • University undergraduate / Graduate Engineer
  • Preferably civil/mechanical/similar
  • Practically minded resourceful person

Desired:

  • Interest in sustainable technologies
  • Fluent in English
