6 month placement to design, develop and pilot test an environmentally sound hydraulic ram pump in Nepal.

What work will I be doing?

Based in Lalitpur, Nepal the volunteer will work on the on design and development of a hydraulic ram pump to be used for domestic water collection and for irrigation. the work will include a lab and field test of a prototype, after which the volunteer will compile a report for the Partner.  In addition, the ram pump is to be marketed to local people, and a training course set up.      

Who will I be working for?

Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal is a professional non-governmental organisation involved in developing and promoting appropriate rural technologies in order to improve the livelihoods of rural people. the organisation was officially established in 1989 and employs about 50 staff. Its main beneficiaries are rural households, and the Nepalese government and foreign donors are its main sources of funding.
