Hello Professional Network,

There have been quite a few developments within EWB-UK recently. The applications for the new EWB-UK National Executive and their respective teams brought in loads of applications from professionals for both the PN team and the other programmes. This will mean that the needs of young professionals will be met more closely within in the organisation and delivery of areas such as training or placements.

The new PN team will be building up its capacity over the next few months so watch out for local PN events and activities in your area. Finally I'd like to welcome Victoria (Toria) Hickman as the new Professional Network National Coordinator. We'll be sharing the role for a few months before she fully takes the reigns at the National Conference 2008 at the end of October.

Keep striving towards what you feel is most important in life

Robert Malies
EWB-UK Professional Network National Coordinator

COOKER STOVE RESEARCH PROJECT
Supervisor / mentor needed

We've been contacted by an academic at Loughborough University's – Centre for Renewable Systems Technology concerning support for a research project. The heat pump might consist of a compressor taking in water vapour at sub-atmospheric pressure and delivering steam at atmospheric pressure. Typical parameters would be:

Input temperature of stored hot water: 50 to 90 deg C
Output temperat
ure to hot plate or oven: 100 to 120 deg C
Work or electricity in: 100 to 200 Watts

Heat out: 500 to 1000 Watts.

If you can help to supervise the project and add some technical input and / or act as an external supervisor to come to the MSc project presentations in early to mid September please contact John Barton - J.P.Barton@lboro.ac.uk
