Waste Processing and Economies

A major international development NGO, Practical Action, is interested in good projects on the sustainability, scaling up, demand and marketing of community waste and compost systems. The informal economies of waste are another area of interest – particularly looking into their potential integration in the ‘modern cities’. They are also interested in small scale technologies for waste processing, compaction, shredding, collection and final disposal. Research on decentralised and low cost methods of final disposal are especially welcomed.

Due to a lack of resources, Practical Action are able to consider only postgraduates and final year students.
