EWB-UK BURSARIES – ROUND II
Applications now open

EWB-UK Applications for Round II of the bursary scheme are now open. The EWB-UK bursary scheme provides funding for its members, students and recent graduates, in the following areas:

-         Learning opportunities: travel and accommodation costs for non EWB-UK training courses

-         Research projects: personal costs associated with research in the area of development engineering, as part of an undergraduate course, Masters/PhD, or independent research. Please note that applications for UK-based research should go through the EWB-UK research scheme

-         Volunteer placements: expenses associated with the applicant on a self-organised placement. EWB-UK placements are not funded by the bursary scheme.

EWB-CARDIFF TRAINING
Water and Advanced Energy courses

EWB-Cardiff, Bath and Bristol are hosting a water weekend April 18-20 and EWB-Cardiff are hosting an Advanced Energy Weekend April 25-27.

Both courses are free for students (deposit to book place) and £20 for professionals. Good deal!

Which course you want to do (you can apply for both if you wish), Name, email, mobile number, occupation/specialism etc, next of kin name and number, dietary requirements, medical aliments, where you are travelling from and an embarrassing fact about yourself.

OXFORD FORUM FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Said Business School, 9 – 11 May 2008

This year the event will be held from the 9th - 11th May 2008 (from Friday evening to Sunday evening) in the Said Business School, and our focus is on the vast and vibrant continent of Africa.

Highlights for the event include:

Keynote address by Richard Dowden, Director of the Royal African Society

Opening address by Ian Goldin, Former Vice President of the World Bank

A packed weekend schedule of lectures and workshops run by representatives from the University, the African Union, the United Nations, and internationally-renowned NGOs (Oxfam, Amnesty International, Christian Aid, WaterAid, WarChild, Stop Child Soldiers Coalition, Save the Children, Global Witness and many more.)

Panel debates on 'Civil Conflict in Africa', and the 'Past and Future of Aid to Africa'.
