Hello Professional Network Community,

Bit of a big one here. Firstly a few reminders to get your applications in for our Placements programme and bumper packed Tri-disciplinary training course. Also, the first ever 'affiliated' EWB-UK placement and first ever EWB-UK Research conference have opened up for applications. There's also an interesting 'corporate social responsibility and international development' networking site, an IDC course in Cambridge and a free development research reporting service by DfID that you may be interested in.

Hope some of these prove useful.

EWB-UK PLACEMENTS 2008 **REMINDER** – Closing date this Sunday 9th March www.ewb-uk.org/programmes/placements

EWB-UK has formed partnerships with 20 organisations in 13 countries to offer 41 work experience placements on projects covering each of our six key knowledge areas: Water, Energy, Habitat, ICT, Industry and Transport. We are offering 33 summer placements and 8 longer placements of six to twelve months' duration. The placements have been carefully chosen for students and recent graduates.

All EWB-UK placements enable volunteers to make effective contributions to a project and partner organisation and offer valuable experience in international development.

EWB-UK TRI-DISCIPLINARY COURSE **REMINDER** – Deadline 6th March TONIGHT!!! - www.ewb-uk.org/node/3364

Preston Montford, Shrewsbury, 19:00, 14th March – 16:30, 17th March

The Tri-Disciplinary Course returns again this year to provide an introduction to elements of Water and Sanitation, Shelter and Infrastructure and Alternative Energy. This three day residential course will cover theory and practical sessions in all three areas. A fantastic opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the experts from the field and to learn about fuel efficient stoves, road infrastructure in rural Africa, solar water heaters, water supply and sanitation for development and much, much more.

There are still a number of spaces available and this is a fantastic course not to be missed! For more information or to apply, please go to http://www.ewb-uk.org/node/3364

The free, one-day event will also include talks, workshops and discussion sessions, with key speakers from some of the leading UK universities and engineering development projects.

AFFILIATED EWB-UK PLACEMENT
Overseeing Implementation of Drinking Water System, Bolivia

FRYSLAN ENGINEERING - Sojsaña, Achocalla, La Paz, Bolivia - www.ewb-uk.org/programmes/placements/2008/Affiliated/Sojsana

This is an affiliated placement, to begin by mid-April 2008.
The deadline for submitting an application is 23 March 2008

One to two entry-mid level placements with a small practice that has worked on projects all over Bolivia but focuses on rural development in the indigenous Altiplano region to the North West of the country. The placement involves overseeing the implementation of a new drinking water system which will supply 200 families.

This is a great opportunity for anyone outside of university, perhaps on a sabbatical, to gain experience in international development. However, the project is affiliated to EWB-UK and is not part of its placements program. The volunteers will therefore have to organise flights, accommodation and other logistics for themselves. Ideally, the successful applicant would fly out in time to start in April.
