Sheffield Biography

Sheffield branch started in its current manifestation in 2004. We have gone from organising a few events and volunteering opportunities a year, to undertaking a number of projects working with NGOs in Sheffield and around the world.

We have a committee of six people, and then four project teams who each meet independently. See the individual project team pages for more information on how they work.

The committee meets weekly, on Mondays at 1715 in IC group room 6. Our discussions centre on two main themes. Each week we discuss the progress of each of our branch project teams and any assistance we can get for them from EWB-UK or the university. And at various times of the year we seek to promote the programme areas of EWB-UK, whether encouraging our members to volunteer their time to running EWB-UK or whether to apply for bursaries and placements and training events.

We have also run a few workshops and socials, and have attended some of the EWB events around the country. On this front we'd definitiely like to do more! If you have any ideas or would like to help organise something, let us know.

Our branch falls between the North and the Midlands region, and we aim to coordinate trips and events where we can. Some of our members also volunteer with EWB-UK, helping develop and run the different programme areas nationally.

If you'd like any more information on how the branch works or how to get involved in EWB in Sheffield, please get in touch, or come and say hello at one of our events.
