Sheffield Future

Easter Training Events

A number of EWB training events are going on over Easter on subjects such as emergency relief infrastructure, alternative energy and IT systems in development. If you'd be interested in going, please let us know and we should be able to help you cover your costs, especially if they'll help you contribute to our branch projects here! For more info on the courses go to the EWB-UK Training programme.

Current Branch Proposals - Medical Equipment in Africa

We have recieved a proposal from a doctor in Sheffield working with an African hospital to maintain equipment. If you'd like to help us set up this project then get in touch here. A team will be going out in March to collect information and so we will be aiming to put something together before Easter. It has been suggested that we run a training event here at Sheffield, in conjunction with the Mobility project, bringing in professionals to give workshops. What do you reckon?

Current Branch Proposals - What role can engineering play in international development?

One of our members is working on a dissertation asking the most fundamental questions about how engineering can influence development, specifically looking at EWB-UK's work. If you would like to get in touch with him, please contact him here.

Branch Project ideas

Do you have a pet project that you would like to share with other EWB members? Do you dream of building wind turbines or adapting complex machinery to the particular conditions in far flung places?

Branch projects are your chance to be ambitious with your ideas. Our job is to facilitate as far as possible the pursuit of your ideas. We can help you contact other students at Sheffield and elsewhere, help you find training or partners and help generally to benefit from many advantages of the EWB network. Tell us about your idea, however incipient or developed.

If you have an idea for a branch project and would like to discuss it with us please contact us.

Branch Adventures

We are currently aiming to organise a trip for the branch during the begining of May 2008. If you have any suggestions or would like to help out in the organisation, let us know here.

Some ideas we have had are the Centre for Alternative Technology and also some of the training events run by branches elsewhere in the country.

Getting more from EWB-UK

There are always more ways that we can be more involved with the multifarious activities of EWB-UK and the other branches in the region. For example, would you like to organise a training event, or to help raise money to keep EWB going? Let us know.
