Setting up an EWB-UK Placement
Typically, our placements take one of two forms:
• 3 month placements for the summer vacation (usually taken up by undergraduates)
• 6-12 month placements (taken up by both undergraduates and graduates)
EWB-UK's placements are made possible by the placements team, consisting of project managers supported by the programme coordinator, facilitators and an administrator. Professional reviewers help us to select projects, and volunteers.

There are six phases involved with setting up a (summer) EWB-UK placement. These are:
| 1. Placement Proposal (Oct-Dec) | Project managers follow up their own idea for a project, or one EWB-UK has prepared |
| 2. Placement Selection (Dec-Jan) |
Professional reviewers screen project proposals. A selection panel makes final choice |
| 3. Volunteer Selection (Feb-Apr) | Placement opportunities are advertised. Applications are screened, and interviews offered |
| 4. Volunteer Preparation (May-Jun) | Project manager briefs the placement volunteers. EWB-UK runs a dedicated training session for volunteers |
| 5. Placement Monitoring (Jun-Sep) | Project manager communicates with volunteers, receiving their reports, and offering advice |
|
6. Placement Evaluation (Oct) |
Volunteers and project managers help to evaluate the placement |
