Outreach Team
Our mission with the Outreach Programme is to to inspire today's youth to engineer a fairer future.

EWB-UK members around the country organise fun, hands-on activities with schools, colleges and youth groups (like scouts and guides). By helping children to recognise the factors that prevent the alleviation of poverty in many developing countries and by demonstrating how our actions impact other communities around the world, we raise their awareness - which we believe is the first step to finding a solution.
Being involved in outreach work is highly rewarding, and provides a unique experience of working with teenagers and school children to make them aware of global priorities such as poverty and climate change mitigation. It can motivate them to follow tertiary education, especially in engineering sciences. Current outreach activities include:
- 'Water for the World' - a workshop raising awareness of global water use
- 'Food for Thought' - to help make the link between our daily choices in the UK and the lives of those in developing countries
- A forthcoming workshop on transport in developing countries, supported by the Institute of Highways and Transportation.
- Work with STEMNET to promote the STEM Ambassadors Scheme to EWB-UK members.
- Working with young people in the Bristol area as part of our National Conference.

The Outreach Team consists of EWB-UK members at university branches and in the professional network who organise outreach activities in their local area. Examples of activities include:
- Finding innovative and creative ways to inspire and educate through interactive activities
- Researching the different outreach activities implemented by companies, NGOs, Engineering Institutions and Universities.
- Helping branches to develop their own contact base of schools and their own outreach material.
Team members may undertake a variety of roles throughout the year. The average time commitment is about 2-4 hours per week on average, with more time needed on certain occasions such as training weekends and leading up to school visits.
