Fundraising Team
EWB-UK’s Fundraising team is a group of EWB-UK members around the country who:
- Liaise with existing and potential corporate and grant donors to secure funds for EWB-UK’s activities.
- Work with EWB-UK’s university societies and members to help them raise funds through band nights, sponsored events and other initiatives.
The team as a whole is responsible for EWB-UK raising the resources and support it needs each year to run its core programmes. Team members may undertake a variety of roles throughout the year, some examples of which are given below. The average time commitment is about 3 hours per week on average but this may be more on some occasions. By representing EWB-UK externally you will have a responsibility to the charity, but members of the Fundraising Team typically enjoy the fantastic opportunity they have to make a significant impact on the charity.
Examples of roles undertaken include:
- Seeking out potential new corporate donors, assessing the suitability of their ethical background and approaching them to explain EWB-UK’s activities and needs - this is a great chance to present to people at the top level of business and have the satisfaction of securing in-kind or monetary donations for the charity.
- Developing ongoing relationships with donors to ensure they are kept informed of EWB-UK’s activities, how they can continue to contribute and how they and their staff can benefit from involvement in EWB-UK too - a very good opportunity to develop skills of networking with business.
- Looking into exciting new fundraising opportunities and using your creativity to develop innovative ideas for EWB-UK’s branches and members - a chance to really use your imagination and raise awareness too. An example of this was the sponsored hitchhike to Dublin.
- Working with different programmes within EWB-UK to identify specific areas of funding or grant opportunities that could be targeted directly - plenty of ways to gain a really in-depth knowledge of the organization and work with people at all levels.
