Training Team

The EWB-UK Training scheme is run by a team of EWB-UK members around the country who:
  • Organise national training courses for EWB-UK members and placement volunteers around the country on topics such as shelter, energy, water, disaster relief and an introduction to development and more.
  • Help EWB-UK university branches organize local training courses for their student society.
  • Work with professionals, other charities and companies to increase the number, variety and effectiveness of training courses.
  • The team members are collectively responsible for the effective running of the Training scheme. It is an exciting role which provides great exposure to a variety of inspirational people involved in international development and a great learning opportunity.
  • Team members may undertake a variety of roles throughout the year, some examples of which are given below. The average time commitment is about 2-3 hours per week on average, with more time needed on occasions such as training weekends themselves and the run-up to the courses etc - but these are also times with lots of get-togethers and fun socials too!
Examples of roles undertaken include:
  • Working with experienced professionals to compile suitable course programmes - a great chance to influence course content and get a good balance between practical and theoretical activities.
  • Organising venues and accommodation for the course and the participants.
  • Contacting suitable session leaders from EWB-UK’s Professional Network and alumni.
  • Advertising the courses to ensure high attendance and a great atmosphere during the training.
  • Working with companies to establish what they can offer EWB-UK and what we can offer their young graduates who may attend our courses.
