Placements Team
National team members play a management role in the placements programme, each member responsible for overseeing up to 8-10 projects. They play a vital role in deploying resources (budget >£40k/annum) to maximise the positive impacts of our programme area. You will be supported by a paid administrator, on secondment from the international disaster relief organisation, RedR.
Role:
- To manage a small team of project managers and other volunteers, overseeing up to 8-10 projects.
- To contribute to the programmes' aims by ensuring that placements processes (described in outline above) are carried out in a smooth and timely manner, to a high level of quality.
- To contribute to programme wide activities such as facilitating training sessions for other volunteers or leaning from feedback from previous year's volunteers
- You should have some experience of either (or both) Fieldwork in the development sector, for at least 3 months or Volunteer management or leading a small team in an organisation
- You should have an active interest in international development, and some understanding of Engineers Without Borders UK's aims and how it operates.
- You must be comfortable with working in spatial isolation from the placements team for periods of time, communicating by email and telephone.
- The role is anticipated to require a commitment of around 4 hours per week
- This role provides fantastic experience of international development issues, and exposure to a range of development organisations from grass-roots community groups to international aid agencies. You will develop a variety of transferable skills including volunteer management, networking and global awareness. There is a huge personal satisfaction in contributing to an essential part of EWB-UK's activities, and the work of our partner organisations.
- You will receive internal training from the previous holders of the position and ongoing guidance and support from the Placements Coordinator, and you will receive training on volunteer management skills.
