Cooking in developing countries is plagued with all kinds of problems. The fetching and cooking of firewood causes deforestation and lung disease. Leaving the relative safety of a refugee camp or slum also exposes people, particularly women and children, to robbery and exploitation. Solar cooking is a sustainable method that involves much less work and far fewer health risks.
