What will I be doing?
 
Developing an efficient cook stove. KJS has a functional institutional stove that is used by customers who buy briquettes, but to date the household stove is not efficient for its briquettes. It is working on developing a better stove and needs help with testing/developing new models.
 
Specific Activities include:
 
Testing of various stove models and making modifications.
 
Designing tests to measure fuel consumption and smoke production, and carrying out these tests.
Test the locally available different biomasses in terms of caloric value, ash content, flammability, flyability etc for the production of quality uncarbonised biomasss briquettes.
During his/her stay with KJS , the Volunteer will be expected to look into the production processes and give advice for improvements.
KJS expects him/her to train its staff in the designed Laboratory activities. He /she should recommend machinery fabricators and suppliers.
 
 
What skills or experience do I need?  
Required:
 
·         Experience of laboratory testing
·         Knowledge of smokeless stoves
·         Ability to work independently
Desired :
· Previous experience of developing countries.
